About This Plant
Blue Downy Clematis (Clematis macropetala) is a hardy, deciduous climbing vine valued for large lavender-blue, nodding lantern-shaped flowers. It blooms in early spring with a second bloom in summer, and features deeply cut medium green foliage. The plant grows as a semi-woody climber, reaching 8-12' tall and spreading up to 6' wide. Decorative pinkish seed heads appear in fall, and the vine attracts butterflies and hummingbirds.
