About This Plant
Allium atropurpureum, commonly called Dark Purple Garlic, is a hardy perennial that grows upright to 2-3 ft (60-90 cm). It produces star-shaped, deep merlot-purple florets with blueberry-purple eyes. This drought-tolerant plant attracts bees, butterflies, and other pollinators and is deer resistant. Best used in beds, borders, cottage gardens, and for cutting displays. Full sun and well-drained soils suit this variety.
