About This Plant
Smallspike False Nettle (Boehmeria cylindrica) is a native North American perennial found in woodlands, streambanks, floodplains, wetlands, and shaded meadows. It thrives in moist to wet, well-drained soils and grows to 2–5 feet tall. Unlike true nettles, it does not sting, making it suitable for naturalized, shade-garden settings. It blooms from summer into early fall and supports native insects and several butterfly and moth species, including Red Admiral caterpillars.
