About This Plant

Hansens Bush Cherry (Prunus besseyi) is a rooted plant that grows as an upright bush to 4-5 feet tall. It bears white flowers in May and produces purplish-black, sweet-tart cherries in July. The plant is self-pollinating but fruit yields are better with cross-pollination from a second plant. It requires about 1,000 chill hours below 45°F for optimal fruiting and is grown naturally without pesticides or chemicals.
